Problem

Each LLM provider maintains its own isolated conversation history. If you use ChatGPT for brainstorming, Claude for coding, and Perplexity for research, none of them know what the others discussed. This forces users to repeatedly re-explain context, preferences, and project details every time they switch tools.

Solution

Step 1: Install and configure Mem0

1. Install the Mem0 Chrome extension from https://mem0.ai
2. Create a Mem0 account and sign in through the extension
3. Visit ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity in your browser
4. The extension automatically detects supported LLM interfaces

Step 2: Build up memory through normal usage

When you chat with any supported LLM, Mem0 captures key context:
- Personal preferences ("I prefer TypeScript over JavaScript")
- Project details ("I'm building a SaaS app with Next.js and Supabase")
- Technical decisions ("We use Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui")
- Workflow patterns ("I like atomic commits with conventional commit messages")

Step 3: Access shared memory across providers

Switch from ChatGPT to Claude or Perplexity.
Mem0 injects relevant memory into the new conversation automatically.
The LLM receives your preferences and project context without you restating them.

Why It Works
